Greyhounds Reached The Beach
October, 2004

Columbus Day weekend 2004 and once again the gathering of the faithful at Dewey Beach, Delaware. The largest event of its kind anywhere on the planet attracted nearly 3,000 Greyhounds and almost as many humans. PG Inc was at its usual spot at the Atlantic Oceanside Motel. We said "Hi" to at least 40 of our adopters, with and without their hounds, all of whom were having a greyt time ogling the infinite variety of colors, shapes and sizes (we're talking Greyhounds here), hundreds if not thousands on the beach at one time with nary a bark or growl - just a sea of long noses, wagging tails and big, soft eyes (again, we're talking Greyhounds).

Seminars, socials, shopping, eating, relaxing - the usual assortment of activities on what was likely the last beach week-end before the holiday season. Most of us left a little heavier around the middle and lighter in the wallet with our hounds exhausted and our vehicles loaded with more Greyhound-inspired merchandise to adorn our bodies, our end-tables, our walls, cars, our hounds, etc. Where do we put it all? Do our families and friends get sick and tired of seeing it? Do they get bored hearing about our "baby's" latest exploits? If so, tough potatoes - it ain't gonna stop!
