Friday, March 27, 2015 ~After Maribeth promised that PG would get Snoopy the very best and all of the medical attention she needed, her owner, at 9:00 am, agreed to relinquish her back to Personalized Greyhounds. By noon Patti was on the way to get her while Maribeth made an appointment for Snoopy at Carlisle Small Animal Hospital. Patti took her almost directly to the clinic for her 2:00 pm appointment. This was the first day, sad and difficult in many ways, of Snoopy’s journey to feeling well and happy.
Monday, March 30, 2015 8:11 AM ~ Our little girl not feeling as well today as yesterday. Could be the medication. No pain though.
Wednesday, April 1, 2015 8:03 PM `~Snoopy found the sofa in the TV room. She walked over to it, looked at me and very slowly started to back away. I told her she could get on and that’s all it took, up she went. She sure is relaxed there. She’s so dear. Don’t think Tula is too happy but she will adjust.
Wednesday, April 15, 2015 9:20 AM ~ Snoopy had a pretty good night last night, a little restless but no pain. She ate a little this am and is now resting after her meds. I am waiting to see how her recovery is today and tomorrow. If she is doing well I will probably go with MB to pick up dogs for Saturday. I have a dog sitter that takes excellent care of my dogs so I will feel ok if Snoopy is doing well.
Wednesday, April 15, 2015 3:22 PM ~ Snoopy is resting comfortably today. We all have become couch potatoes today just kind of hanging out with her. The swelling has gone down on her belly but now it is going to become very black and blue. These are normal conditions. She has eaten a little today but can’t wait for the day when she eats her fill. For what she has been thru, she is doing well. She sure is a trooper and a love.
Monday, April 20, 2015 5:54 PM ~ Snoopy was at the vet this afternoon for a check. She is out of her cone and now back into a tee shirt until Thursday when she will get her stitches out. I know Maribeth told you all about the baby bunny she had in her mouth one night last week. When I saw what she had, I screamed OMG and she dropped it and the dear baby took off. Haven’t seen any in my yard since. Mommy must have moved them. All my kids were in the TV room this evening when I went in and called them for dinner. All my dogs run down the hall to the kitchen and guess what, Snoopy was running right with them. She is unbelievable. Has recovered so swiftly and now just wants to fit in with the rest of the gang. Happy little girl feeling better than she probably has in a very long time. Will update on Thursday. By then we should know the pathology report.
Friday, April 24, 2015 8:54 PM ~ I know I said I would give you an update on Snoopy Thursday but I have been a little busy at GIG. Now that that’s over we can get down to business. Snoopy is doing well. We went to the vet on Thursday to get her stitches out. When we got there Dr. Barnett said he had looked at her chart and realized it was too soon. We now have an appointment on Monday. Her pathology report was back so he sat down to discuss it with us. She had a low grade cancerous tumor. They got most of the tumor, but couldn’t get it all. He said it was very slow growing and she would not die from cancer. She does, however, have a kidney disease that they will be watching. She is on medication and has a prognosis of about 1 to 2 years. Like he said, it’s not the quantity of life, but the quality of life she will continue to have. Snoopy will now become a part of my canine family. She is happy here, gets along with the other dogs, not so much the cat, but we’re working on that. We’re looking forward to her getting her stitches out so we can go for walks and enjoy the Spring and Summer. She’s the dearest. Thank you all for your interest and concern for Snoopy. She deserves all the love she can get. Don’t know if she will be doing many outings at this time. After all, she is a granny like me, but she will definitely be at the picnic so come and meet her.
Wednesday, May 6, 2015 8:54 AM ~ Thought I would share something very dear that happened this morning. I’m not a person that tears up or cries easily but this morning I was getting breakfast ready for the dogs and I heard a noise in the living room. I looked up and there was Snoopy with a toy in her mouth just jumping around playing. If that doesn’t cause a person to tear up I don’t what would. She was having the best time. She is doing just great. She is feeling better than she has in years. She is on a special food and her appetite is good. If she would just stop chasing the cat Cricket, all would be well with the world. Snoopy has a true Valiant Heart. "To a valiant heart, nothing is impossible" Patricia Richardson (May 6, 2015)
