Volunteers & Friends of PG Inc.
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion"

Every so often, a call for help comes across the vast network of greyhound rescue groups.  People from all over answer that call and work tirelessly to figure out how far they can stretch their resources to offer as much help as possible in answering that call.  This time, it was mid-December and the call came from the good folks at Greyhound Support in Kansas City.  A breeding farm was closing, leaving all of the dogs there in dire need of safe haven by mid-January.  Thirty dogs in thirty days.   After we received the call from Kansas, our own plea went out to the many volunteers of PG, Inc.  The response was nothing less than tremendous.  With the help of over thirty volunteers, we were able to bring in nine of those wonderful hounds, place four into permanent homes and five into foster care.  After nearly 30 hours on a bus from Kansas to Harrisburg, the hounds were greeted by some very warm smiles from some very cold volunteers.  They were whisked off to Happy Tails, where owners Angie & Anita led the charge to give each and every one of them the complete spa treatment.  They were also treated to brand new collars and leads, and warm new coats.  Most of all, they were completely overwhelmed with kisses, hugs and warm words of comfort from the many volunteers that were there to help with everything from baths to feedings to nail clippings.  Thank you to everyone who made this possible!!!

You are truly a gift!!

A very long trip, about 30 hours, comes to an end as some very weary hounds hop of the bus with some help from the good-natured drivers.
