12th Anniversary Homecoming Picnic

PICNIC REPORT ...

Not a perfect day, hot and humid, but no raindrops, a fine day for a celebration!  129 well mannered Greyhounds, 165 humans, good food and drink, vendors, soothing music, speeches, prizes, awards, companionship, etc.

Our 12th Anniversary Homecoming Picnic at Latimore Valley Fairgrounds, York Springs, PA, on Saturday, June 2, went off without a hitch thanks to the efforts of the cadre of loyal volunteers listed below to whom we extend our sincere thanks.

A special thank you to Judi Kaufman for reconditioning collars and donating the proceeds to PG Inc., Angie's Bark Avenue for providing free pedicures for the hounds, to Janene Millen for playing her Mountain Dulcimer throughout the day and to all those who brought delicious side dishes and desserts to share with their fellow adopters.

During the program, recognition was given to the volunteers who provided Foster Care during the past year. Those included: David Holsopple & Richard Reigle, Dan & Mary Heatherly, Gail & Kevin Fisher, Dana Smith, The Animal House (Sharon Janes), Deb Zeitlin, Scott & Hillarene Staller, Kim & Jim Kauffman, Andrew Miller, Bill & Maggie Parke.

The Fortitude Award was presented to Sharon Janes of The Animal House by David Holsopple and Richard Reigle.  The award is given In Memory of "Goliath" who, while battling cancer, continued his brave effort of kindness and cheer. 

Volunteer of The Year 2006-07 awards were presented to Dan & Mary Heatherly. The "Catfish" Memorial Award For Good Citizenship went to "Edie"  Zeitlin.  These award winners join the following list of volunteers enshrined in the Personalized Greyhounds Hall of Fame.
